You do not need to begin at page one or understand everything at once.

Start with Jesus
The Bible is a library of books written across many centuries. You do not have to read it like a novel from the first page. If you are new, begin with a Gospel. John emphasizes who Jesus is; Mark moves quickly through what He did.
Before reading, ask God for understanding. Then read enough to follow the author's thought rather than choosing one isolated sentence.
Ask simple questions
What does this passage say? What does it show about God, people, and the world? Is there a promise to trust, a warning to notice, an example to follow, or a response to make?
Context matters. Notice who is speaking, who is listening, and what happens before and after. Clear passages can help with difficult ones.
Read with others
Questions are normal. Write them down rather than abandoning the reading. Use a trustworthy study Bible or ask a mature Christian who respects the text and admits when an answer is uncertain.
The goal is not merely collecting information. Scripture leads us to know God, trust Jesus, and learn a new way of living. Read patiently and return regularly.
IN A FEW WORDS
Begin with a Gospel, read small portions in context, ask simple questions, and let clear passages help you understand difficult ones.
A SIMPLE PRAYER
God, open my understanding as I read. Help me see what is true about You, recognize what needs to change in me, and respond with trust.
NEXT STEPS
You can begin today.
1
Begin with the Gospel of John or Mark.
