Forgiveness is not pretending Real forgiveness does not call evil good or pretend wounds do not matter. God knows the full truth about us. Christian confession begins when we stop defending ourselves and agree with Him about our sin.
The surprising part is that God already knows and still invites us to come near. Shame tells us to hide until we become acceptable. Jesus invites us to step into the light and receive grace.
Jesus carried what we could not repair We cannot erase the past by punishing ourselves or collecting enough good actions. At the cross, Jesus took our sin seriously and carried its cost. Forgiveness is offered as a gift because of what He did, not as a reward for appearing religious.
Repentance means more than feeling bad. It is turning toward God, trusting Jesus, and becoming willing to leave the old direction behind.
Grace opens a new road Some consequences may remain, and rebuilding trust can take time. God's forgiveness does not remove our responsibility to tell the truth, seek help, or make amends where possible. It removes condemnation and gives us a new place from which to live.
You may still remember what happened. The promise is not amnesia; it is that your failure no longer has the final word.
