Something was broken The Bible describes sin as more than isolated bad actions. It is our deep tendency to live independently from God, placing ourselves at the center. That rupture reaches our desires, relationships, systems, and choices. We cannot repair it only through self-improvement.
God is loving, but His love does not make evil unimportant. God is just, but His justice is not separated from mercy. The cross is where the seriousness of sin and the depth of divine love meet.
Jesus gave Himself Jesus was not caught in an accident beyond His control. The Gospels describe Him willingly giving His life. He stood in the place of sinners so that those who trust Him could be reconciled to God.
Different biblical images help us understand this gift: sacrifice, rescue, forgiveness, victory, and reconciliation. Together they show that God acted in Jesus to do what we could not do for ourselves.
The cross is not the end Jesus rose from the dead. The resurrection means the cross was not defeat and death does not have the final word. Forgiveness is real, a new life is possible, and Christian hope rests on a living Savior.
Receiving this gift does not mean understanding every detail first. It means turning toward Jesus with repentance and trust.
